Xero Courses - Certificate Level 1

Level 1 - Introduction to Accounting and Bookkeeping Online with Xero is designed for participants to understand and apply the basics of accounting and bookkeeping using the Xero cloud accounting platform.

The course includes: File set up, transaction processing and reporting for two simulation business so students experience accounting and bookkeeping tasks in a real world simulation. 

The cost of Xero is included in the course for a period of 6 months. Students have access to each of the Xero files they create for the duration of the Xero access.

Course Topics

This Introductory course covers:

Week 1. Introduction to Xero

• Overview  of Xero's dashboard and features.
• Creating and setting up your Xero account.

Week 2. Setting Up Your Organization

• Adding your company's information and logo.
• Configuring  your organisation's settings.

Week 3. Chart  of Accounts

• Understanding  the chart of accounts and its importance.
• Creating and customising accounts for different types of transactions.
• Organising accounts into categories.

Week 4. Bank Reconciliation

• Linking  your bank accounts and credit cards to Xero.
• Reconciling transactions to ensure accurate records.
• Handling discrepancies between Xero and your bank statements.

Weeks 5. Invoicing  and Sales

• Creating  and sending invoices to customers.
• Managing  sales and tracking payments.
• Handling GST calculations.

Week 6. Purchases and Expenses

• Entering bills and expenses into Xero.
• Managing vendor payments and tracking outstanding bills.
• Managing purchase orders and receipts.
